After seven years of rapid consolidation, this sector in the UK is starting to mature and with the CMA now being heavily involved, competition is being re-established in certain areas where some groups had gained a monopolistic position. Thus whilst acquisitions will still be made by the major groups, the areas will be restricted and determined by existing locations.
There is now a move by most groups into Europe where in many countries, consolidation has not yet taken place.
